Abrams is comprised of people who are dedicated to creating opportunities for economic and social justice for individuals and families.  We are legal scholars who are dedicated to protecting the economic rights and well-being of our clients while promoting marketplace integrity.  We believe that the practice of law is an artistic endeavor that requires creative thought and innovation. We believe that all people are entitled to access to our state and federal civil justice system.

Abrams exists to protect the economic well-being and rights of individuals and families who enter into transactions for personal, family or household purposes while also protecting the integrity of the marketplace and honest business from the harmful effects of unfair or deceptive business practices.  We do this by providing legal counsel and advocacy to our clients and the community regarding consumer rights, bankruptcy, disability, and estate planning. We maintain the ethics of the legal profession while providing zealous advocacy for our clients. We are dedicated to finding new applications for technology in order to cost effectively deliver high quality legal representation to our clients. We always treat our clients, opposing counsel, and members of the court in a respectful, yet assertive manner, relying upon a thorough command of the facts of each case and the applicable law.

I am dedicated to protecting your economic rights and well-being.

I have built my practice based upon my belief that access to justice and the economic well-being of individuals and families is as important as that of any bank or large corporation. As a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates I have pledged to never represent any business in any matter against a consumer.

My office provides a variety of services to our clients based upon their needs.

  • Consumer Law – I represent individuals and families in disputes arising out of transactions which were entered into for personal, family, or household purposes. This can include legal issues such as: Defense of Debt Collection lawsuits; Consumer Bankruptcy; Mortgage Foreclosure Defense; Automobile Sales or Financing Fraud; Debt Collection Abuse (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act Claims); Predatory Lending; Enforcement of Tenant Rights and other claims arising under the State and Federal Consumer Protection laws.

 

  • Consumer Bankruptcy - For consumers facing debt problems I offer both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy representation where appropriate. I carefully examine each client's economic situation and determine with the client what course of action is most likely to lead to the outcome desired by the client.

 

  • Elder Law and Guardianship – I take special pride in my ability to serve members of our community throughout their lifespan. My interest in the legal rights of our senior citizens began in law school when I completed the highly ranked Elder Law Clinic at CUNY Law School. I am experienced with matters such as simple wills and trusts, guardianship, Powers of Attorney, and Healthcare directives.

 

  • Social Security Disability Claims – The loss of income associated with a disabling injury or accident can be devastating to the economic life of an individual or family. Social Security disability income provides an important safety net for individuals who are unable to work due to disability. Prior to becoming an attorney I worked as a Registered Nurse with patients who engaged in rehabilitation from injury or disease. My healthcare experience is very helpful in understanding your medical background and how that interacts with the laws governing disability claims.
